Gianfranco Lanci

Gianfranco Lancis promotion to the position of CEO and President of Acer Inc. in 2008 put him in charge of Acers Inc. overall business, and followed his appointment as President of Acer inc. in 2005. The new responsibility reflects the companys recognition for his outstanding performance in the European market, including his management style and successful channel-business model.


Lanci joined Acer as Managing Director of Acer Italy in 1997, following Acers acquisition of Texas Instruments (TI) notebook division. In 2000, Lanci became President of Acer Europe and began building up a strong European organization. On becoming President of Acer EMEA in 2002, Lanci introduced his proven channel-business model that turned in record-making profits all across Europe, into the Middle East and African markets. In 2003 he was nominated as President of Acer Inc. OBG (International Operation Business Group), coordinating sales & marketing activities in Europe, MEA and the Americas.


Born in 1954 in Turin, Italy he graduated from the Politecnico of Turin with a degree in civil engineering. He joined Texas Instruments Italia in 1981, becoming in 1991 country manager for the Portable computers and Printers Division (PPD) in Italy, the Middle East and Africa. In 1996 he was appointed President of EMEA for TIs Personal Productivity Products Division. When TIs portable PC business merged with Acer in 1997, Lanci became Managing Director of Acer Italy.

Walter Deppeler

Walter Deppeler is acting as Senior Corporate Vice President of Acer Inc. and as Deputy President of Acer EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa). He joined Acer in 1997 as Managing Director of the Swiss office, before taking on double responsibility as Managing Director of Acer Germany and Sales & Marketing Director of Acer Europe in 2000. In February 2003 he became Vice President of Acer EMEA, and has played a key role in supporting Acer EMEA President, Gianfranco Lanci, to expand successfully the companys market share across the region.


Born in Baden in 1957, Walter studied at the Graduate School of Business Administration Zurich in Switzerland. He joined Texas Instruments in 1980, and became Managing Director of Texas Instruments Switzerland in 1990, before advancing to oversee the Central and Eastern European region for notebooks, printers, and consumer products as Regional Manager. In 1995 he was promoted to Marketing Director for Texas Instruments Mobile Computing division in Europe.

Rudi Schmidleithner

Rudi Schmidleithner is president of Acer Group Pan America, which includes Acer America, Acer Canada, Acer Latin America, and Gateway, a wholly owned subsidiary of Acer (acquired in August 2007). Appointed in November 2003, Schmidleithner oversees daily operations and leadership for Acer and Gateway. He is also responsible for completing the post-merger integration of Gateway into Acer.


Prior to his current role, Schmidleithner was Acer EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) business unit manager for notebook products. He was instrumental in the phenomenal growth of Acer EMEAs Region 2 organization, which includes Germany, Benelux, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
